SkyHound is the only fully self-contained portable ADS-B traffic and weather unit in existence, built and designed by pilots — www.HoundAvionics.com for pictures and videos.
One day, we wanted to buy a portable ADS-B unit with a built-in display, but couldn’t find one. So we built one. This month, it launched as SkyHound … the only portable ADS-B traffic and weather unit that’s completely self-contained with a built in display. No iPad needed.
Founded by Sholom Ellenberg and Ivan Marshalleck, two lifelong friends who met in a high school computer class and have shared a passion for aviation and technology ever since.
We have gotten fantastic feedback so far. Pilots have shown a real desire for a simple ADS-B IN solution that does not require an iPad, subscription software, wireless connections, or looking down at your lap to see traffic, and the response from Flight Instructors in particular has been incredible: with many of them lacking a simple and portable traffic system to bring from plane to plane for their lessons until now.
We’d love to speak with you to tell you our story, talk about this technology and what we hope it can do to increase pilot safety industry-wide.
- Built-in QLED display showing real-time traffic and weather
- Unique design fits on the glare shield
- No tablet required (although EFBs are supported)
- No subscription needed – buy it once and receive ongoing OTA software updates
- And we’re pursuing FAA NORSEE approval, which is nearly unheard of for portable gear.
AvBrief’s Larry Anglisano just flew with us for an in-flight demo and interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om1xLzhZ_KU
We’d be thrilled to offer you the same: a flight demo or an interview, whichever suits your audience.
We will be at Oshkosh this summer at booth 1045. If you would like to come visit.
