BERINGER AERO is proud to announce that BERINGER Ambassador Lukas Stutzer claimed first place in the Heavy Touring category at the 2026 Valdez STOL Competition, achieving an impressive combined landing and takeoff distance of just 244 feet in his 1972 Helio H-295, N62JA.
Stutzer’s aircraft is equipped with BERINGER 10-inch wheels and brakes engineered specifically for the Helio platform. The system delivers up to 30% shorter rolling distance and enhanced heat dissipation, critical advantages during high-performance STOL operations and demanding landings.
Held annually at Valdez Pioneer Field Airport in Valdez, Alaska, the Valdez Fly-In and Airshow is one of the premier aviation events in the world. Established in 2003, the event showcases elite STOL competition, aerobatic performances, aircraft displays, and family-friendly aviation activities. The 2026 competition once again drew top pilots from across the industry to demonstrate precision flying and aircraft performance.
“Lukas’ performance in Valdez highlights the importance of precision engineering and reliable braking systems in STOL competition,” said Claire Beringer, CEO of BERINGER AERO. “We are proud to support pilots pushing the limits of performance and safety.”
BERINGER AERO’s technologies are protected by nine international patents and are trusted by pilots worldwide for superior stopping power, performance, and safety.
