Garmin adds Daily Weather and other features to Garmin Pilot app

Highly requested Daily Weather feature debuts alongside a new turbulence layer
and an updated Database Concierge experience

Garmin today announced new features and enhancements in the Garmin Pilot™ mobile app. Previously only available on Garmin Pilot Web, the Daily Weather feature is now available on Apple® mobile devices, allowing pilots to see future forecasts in a new Daily Weather tab. To help provide a smoother ride, a new turbulence layer – available on both Garmin Pilot mobile and web – displays forecasted turbulence on the map, so pilots can see if it exists along the planned route of flight. Additionally, Database Concierge users can now use an updated user interface, to more easily view the status of installed navigation databases and available updates.

Stay in the loop with Daily Weather
The Daily Weather feature makes it easy for pilots to view future weather forecasts up to six days into
the future, and each individual day shows an hourly breakdown. Additionally, a visual timeline depicts if
conditions will be VFR, MVFR, IFR, or LIFR and can be manipulated as a slider to see the
corresponding hourly weather below. This allows users to quickly discern when the best time to fly may
be during the days ahead. The Daily Weather feature can be found in the Airports tab under “Weather,”
alongside other weather data like METARs, TAFs and MOS forecasts.

    Plan around turbulence
A new turbulence weather layer is now available to overlay atop the map on Garmin Pilot Web and
mobile devices, making it easier for pilots to plan flight plan around areas of more intense turbulence.
The forecasted turbulence information is available in the United States from the surface to 45,000 feet
MSL (FL450) and will soon be available globally from 11,000 feet MSL to FL450.

    A new Database Concierge experience
Database Concierge users can now more easily see the status of their databases and available
updates with the new user interface for iOS mobile devices. The new user interface also improves the
workflow to reach the Database Concierge page, making it quicker to see needed updates. Additionally,
for pilots who manage or update multiple aircraft, a new aircraft selector allows them to filter their
aircraft list within Database Concierge for easy reference.

These updates are available now via a free software update for existing Garmin Pilot users. First-time
Garmin Pilot users can take advantage of the 15 for 12 promotion, available at
Garmin.com/AviationPromotions. For additional information, visit Garmin.com/GarminPilot.
