The Kerrville Daily Times of Kerrville, Texas, broke the story on November 12, reporting that Mooney has furloughed all employees and shuttered the local factory where Mooney International had been slowly turning out aircraft. Nobody answered the phone at the factory, and a voicemail announcement appeared to confirm the bad news: “Please be advised that all Mooney employees have been furloughed at this time. At 7 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 24, the Cloverdale Municipal Airport was bustling. Hartzell Propeller has secured an FAA Type Certificate for a new five-blade carbon fiber propeller system for the King Air 200 fleet. These custom designed props will be available through Raisbeck Engineering via STC for King Air 200, B200, and B200GT aircraft. This new propeller system, which increases performance across the board, is the first five-blade structural composite propeller certified on the King Air 200 series. The US manufacturer has achieved the delivery milestone in a little less than six years, having shipped the first example in early 2013. This landmark aircraft (N795J) handed to South Aero, a family-owned charter operator and long-time customer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
