Another platform win for the Genesys advanced avionics suite
Mineral Wells, TX (January 14, 2020) –– Genesys Aerosystems announced today that the Leonardo TH-119, equipped with the Genesys avionics suite, has been selected by the US Navy for the next generation TH-73A training helicopter.
The Genesys configuration certified on the TH-119 includes four IDU-680 displays in a dual-sided PFD/MFD format with dual redundant ADAHRS, dual GPS/FMS, dual Data Acquisition Unit (DAU), and other supporting sensors. The Level A, IFR certified, IDU-680, is a large EFIS display that offers high-resolution LCD glass depicting 3D Synthetic Vision, Highway-In-The-Sky (HITS), Enhanced HTAWS, Integrated FMS, Hover Vector, and many more features.
“I congratulate our long-time partner, Leonardo, for the selection of the TH-119 as the Advanced Helicopter Training System. There were many big undertakings during this process, not least of which was that the partnership between Leonardo and Genesys yielded the first IFR certification for a single-engine helicopter in decades. We, at Genesys, are proud to be able to serve our nations’ armed forces in training their next generation of helicopter pilots,” Roger Smith, President, and CEO for Genesys Aerosystems.
The contract valued at USD 176,472,608 for the production, and delivery of 32 TH-73A helicopters, initial spares, support and dedicated equipment and specific pilot and maintenance training services. This contract, as Fiscal 2020 aircraft procurement (Navy) funds, was competitively procured via a request for proposal of various offers. Work will be mainly performed at Leonardo’s Philadelphia facility and is expected to be completed in October 2021. The avionics suite for the TH-119 is manufactured at Genesys Aerosystems Headquarters in Mineral Wells, TX.
