Genesys Aerosystems Glass Cockpit Clearance on HAL Do 228

IDU-680 displays provide HAL Do 228 operators a revolutionary glass cockpit upgrade

Mineral Wells, TX (December 10, 2019) –– Genesys Aerosystems announced that Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a premier Aerospace company in India, achieved clearance from Indian certification agencies and delivered Do 228 aircraft equipped with the Genesys Aerosystems glass cockpit upgrade less than 13 months from contract award.

The 19 seater Do 228 aircraft is a highly adaptable, multi-purpose light transport aircraft that is used by the Indian Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard, and other foreign agencies. The Do 228 upgrades include four IDU-680 cockpit displays, cabin mission station displays, multiple aircraft sensors, and a full Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS). The highly configurable IDU-680 interfaces with the existing legacy radios, autopilot, and special mission cabin systems.

“The first flight was achieved in less than six months from program kickoff and clearance came just seven months after the first flight, this achievement it is a testament to the quality and hard work of the engineering and certification teams from both Genesys and HAL,” said Nick Bogner, Director of Business Development. “Our offering of a technically compliant Glass Cockpit solution and ability to meet an aggressive timeline is why HAL selected Genesys and Reliance Infrastructure Limited for this program. Our IDU-680 displays are versatile and are easily customized to support the mission profiles of the HAL Do 228.” Bogner added.

Operators around the world prefer the IDU-680 due to its configurability and ruggedness. The Level-A certified Genesys IDU-680 EFIS displays feature a variety of PFD and MFD formats consisting of flight instruments, moving map, HSI, flight planner, traffic, terrain, weather radar, datalink, video, radio/audio management, and engine displays. The IDU-680s displays also feature a built-in Flight Management System and integrated Class-A TAWS (Terrain Awareness and Warning System). Genesys’ unique OASIS (Open Architecture System Integration Symbology) platform enables flexibility to display engine information, CAS messages, and special-mission equipment in formats that meet the requirements of the customer.
